windburn :-(

I was outside yesterday in the UNCHRISTLY cold weather and got pretty bad windburn on my cheeks. I didn't realize it was that bad until I was exfoliating and it started to sting! Now I have these little red, slightly raw patches on my cheeks. It hurts like a b*tch! What sort of lotion should I put on my face to soothe it that won't clog my pores too bad and bring me back to square one?

Eucerin or Vanicream...that's why I used on my babe. Works like a charm, especially if you apply before bedtime!

Cetaphil cream is wonderful. I would try a layer of aloe vera gel and then Cetaphil cream.

Every time I've used Aquaphor (I used to put on my tattoos before I knew better!) I've gotten weird red bumps. So I've been using my Burt's Bees chapstick on it with my regular moisturizer over that. I think it's getting better. My skin is such a f*cking mess...the windburn is the least of it...I blew 40 bucks today on chemical-free face care stuff because the whole Neutrogena soap+Lubriderm thing just doesn't seem to cut it anymore and it seems like I get a weird rash or zits with drugstore products. I got a facial cleanser, moisturizer with sunscreen, and hydrating toner spray. Then I got a fruit/glycolic acid peel mask. I am going to try the peel once a week, the spray twice daily, and everything else at night. I think part of my problem is I have a lot of clogged pores so hopefully once they get cleared out, I can then just keep my skin clearer. Gawd...I hate winter. Don't even get me started on chapped lips! Or when it gets chapped underneath your nose? Gah!

Do not use the AHA mask on the windburn.
To learn whether your sunscreen is stable (if it is not, it does more harm than good) see the sunscreen sticky. Also don't use it at night. La Roche Posay makes a good emollient sunscreen, the Anthelios SX, which is photostable and has a vrey good UVA protection.
If you have a problem with clogged pores, use an effective BHA daily. BHA can exfoliate inside the pore (AHA can't). Neutrogena 3in1 is a good option, as is Paula's Choice.
For cleanser, try the most gentle one. Aquanil is nice, as is Neutrogena Extra gentle.
If you use your chapstick on your dry cheeks, use moisturizer first, then the chapstick to seal the moisture in. Also, always use moisturizer directly after washing your face, to seal moisture in.

Hey Jenn thanks for your help. I tried the Neutrogena 3-in-1 every other day for the past few days and it's helped a lot...my skin is starting to look clearer and the worst of the windburn seems to be healing pretty well! Gah I can't believe how much gunk was in my pores! Ewwww!
