| | | Anti Aging Products, YAY or NAY I'm not that into it, I think there is something beautiful and unique in today's society of aging as you are. My grandmother is 91, and looks it, but she is beautiful, even with her wrinkles, I think that as women (and men) age it is a sign that they have gathered wisdom. All those wrinkles from worrying about children, family, money, the world shows in your face and is a way of telling the world, I've been through some shit, but you know what, I came through.

| | | I just don't think that you can really do much about wrinkles once they've already happened...you can wear sunscreen now to prevent but in the end I think once you've got them you've got them!

| | Anti aging products YES....
Face lifts...I say no.
No reason to look older than necessary IMO and if some moisturizer and skin care products can help that then I am all for it. Surgical intervention is another matter...

| | | Anti-aging, absolutely! Most face products aren't going to make you look 10 years younger, anyway, just a healthier/better-kept version of your own age. Not that you need to spend $100+ for them, even a good retinol cream from Neutrogena really makes your skin look a little smoother and perkier.
And I agree w/Luvapup... no facelifts, botox, or other gruesome procedures please!!!

| | | My mom is going to be 50 this year and she doesnt really have any wrinkles. She has a couple of lines by her eyes but thats about it. All her life she has avoided the sun, used sunscreen and always used moisturizer and night cream. I think any woman can age gracefully by doing these things and keeping up with their skin. Oh and drinking lots of water has also helped IMO. |

Also, check the homepage of Avage to see some nice pics. Rx retinoids or retinaldehyde products and potent c serums can work preventative, but also on existing wrinkles. They give pretty dramatic results, it takes up to nine months though, as collagen production is increased and skin changed from inside out.

| | | Does anyone here know anything about Nanosphere technology ? This is the reason I became interested in Arbonne products and their anti-aging system- because of nanosphere technology.
Nanosphere technology is a delivery system originally developed by pharmaceutical companies to make their drugs more effective. This technology allows substances to be targeted to specific cells. What Arbonne chemists have done is to marry the nanosphere technology with pure botanical ingredients - instead of to drugs. This new technology makes it possible to target the botanical ingredients directly to the skin cells which provides a much more potent way of restoring the skin's thickness and elasticity. The pure botanical ingredients become more effective than has ever been possible before!
Nanospheres are microscopic, highly accurate molecular delivery packages, smaller than liposomes, from 5-20 nanometers in size. They deliver the key RE 9 elements to specific areas of the skin, self adjusting to the differences and requirements of various skin types. This technology has been used for skin cancer patients and is now being used to fight wrinkles and sun damage. Any thoughts on this? |

Any thoughts on this? | Yep- stick to the proven big guns instead- there is no research impressively backing up those claims made by Arbonne. Best stick to studies on for example PubMed, and check out the links I gave above. Apart from retinaldehyde, everything really powerful is rx (rx retinoids). Apart from retinoids, potent c serums and high PPD sunscreens offer the best results, info like this can be found on the info notepads on makeupalley.com (including links to studies and research). These notepads are easily found if you go to member search. search for Cho_Chang and then access her notepad.

I agree that retinoids are the best for these problems but I do believe in the technology that they are using to get these products to the skin cells which is nanosphere. If this actually works in the long run- it could do wonders for some people and maybe cut back on harmful things such as plastic surgury etc. |

| | | okay retinoids...but they are prescription.
I still think the best anti-aging is to start wearing good sunscreen young.
my mom did that and she is 55 but you would never guess.

Retinoids means all of them, not only rx. Good info again on makeupalley, on tetrakis' notepad.

| | Anything that works to make us feel better about the way we look is ok by me, from nano-whatevers to creams to surgery, which I would have if I could afford it.
I was a fan of the "let's age gracefully, lines and wrinkles reflect a full life, a life well-lived" philosophy, until it started happening to my face. Although I'm told I look younger than my age, I'd still try anything I could to erase some of the damage sun, age and smoking has done to my skin.
(Damn - Just realized I'm now too old to live fast, die young and leave a beautiful corpse....I only managed the first one. )

| Thank God you don't need to try anything. Just stick to the big guns (c serum topped with great phototable sunscreen in AM, rx retinoid in PM (or Diacneal, strongest otc retinoid). You can erase a lot of the damage if you combine that regimen with a diet based on fruits and veggies.

. ) | Ha, Aeriel, I'm with you. Surgery will be a last resort for me, I'm trying anti-aging skin care first and the new laser procedures. That should do me until 55. |

| | | If you wear sunscreen (stable and high PPD) all the time, and use a rx retinoid in PM, that will help longer than until say 55. My mom's 67 now and has been using both since she turned 65, so not long, and has amazing results.
If you have stayed out of the sun and never tanned for all your life, it's really awesome how the skin looks. My MIL is like that with almost 70.
