| | | La Mer - Creme de la Mer WORTH IT? Ok, so I've heard all this hype about La Mer's Creme de la Mer. Who has tried it? And is it worth the money? What were the results after using it for awhile? |

| | | For me, it's worth every penny! I've been using it since last November. I have combination skin. It lightens some blemishes and moisturizes my dry areas (cheeks) well. I had a few people that hadn't seen me for a while complimented my skin. It's not as expensive as it seens. First it can double as an eye cream and a very very little goes a long way. A 1 oz lasts for about 5 months even if you use it BOTH morning and evening. Besides, if you become a regular customer at the La Mer counter, they are very geneous with their samples. |

| | | I use it and love it, I just have a sample right now from Saks, but this little jar lasts awhile. I've had the large jars and it's worth every penny. It does everything Asiandiva says. |

| | | Have either of you had any problems with it causing breakouts? Is it a thick cream? Unfortunately, I do not have a Saks within a 50 mile radius to obtain any samples. If any of you have any extra samples, I would gladly pay for them. I really like to try things before I buy. I have weird skin. Dry in some places, acne prone in others! |

| | No, I don't believe it contributes to breakouts despite it being a heavy cream. If it's too heavy for you, there's the moisturizing lotion that is lighter. I wish I had extra samples. I actually had an opportunity to obtain more from a Saks and I totally forgot . I think if you buy it from the store you can always return it. I've done that with some expensive products that really irritated my skin. |

But many people love it anyway. It's a simple mineral oil based formula, like the European Nivea cream, which many like because of that as an alternative to CdlM.

| | | Well whatever is in there seems to work, I've tried a LOT of beauty products and La Mer really seems to make my skin a better texture and lightens redness |

Good for you! I'm 32 and need antiaging and prevention. *sigh*

I think I like products even more than jeans *siiiigh* |

You'll still most probably go nuts with bath and body products, hehehe!
(By the way, if you don't want to fight that much damage later on, start wearing stable UVA protective sunscreen as soon as you can, everyday, rain or shine, inside or outside, as UVA rays are always present and penetrate windows)

Originally Posted by shopprncs The Bare Minerals makeup has sunscreen in it, do I need more than that? | Yes. You'd need a very thick even layer to get the labelled protection, which is not possible, and even then the UVA protection would be very poor (and it's the UVA rays that are responsible for skin aging and sun damage). You find info like that if you register on makeupalley and read the notepad by member sunscreenFAQ. Lots of great info based on scientific research can be found there- also on retinoids and antioxidants (there's a notepad by a member called Cho_Chang that links to all information). Lots to learn, very interesting- I spent the last years researching for fun and can totally relate to those girls.
It's a lot to read in the beginning- but it all is pretty simple in the end.
A helpful book is the "Skintype Solution" by Leslie Baumann.

| | | I have never gotten breakout from La Mer. A friend of mine uses LM as well and it's the only thing that doesn't give her breakout. |

| | | I also wanted to add, thhe main problem of my skin is not lines or wrinkles. I have dry patches and freckles from the sun and La Mer works very well on that. I guess for people that need more anti-aging, they should try other products.
The cream is not thick, besdies you really just need very very little each time. |

Go to member center, then member search. Type in Cho_Chang. You get to her account then, and just need to click on her notepad. You'll find links to all other information notepads on it.
