| | | Question for Jenn or anyone else who has used Bliss Hello again all,
Recently I posed up about an issue I was having with my skin being flaky and dry but oily. And just as I suspected Jenn advised me that my cleanser and the masque I was using were drying my skin out too much. I had been using the Neutrogena Acne Stress Control cleanser and I stopped using it right away.
But I did not know what to use as a cleanser. My aunt worked at the W Hotel for sometime and had some Bliss samples. I started to use their Foaming Cleanser (which doesn't foam a ton but I'm not complaining). So far it seems to be working quite well! My face has never looked this good and clear. I am still using 2% BHA after I wash my face at night as well.
I just wanted to know if anyone here has had experience with Bliss products. I know their prices run quite high but again, high prices doesn't mean that it is a good product. I've checked out reviews from MUA and it seemed to get decent reviews (a bit mixed) so I wanted to see if any of my fellow forum members have had experiences with these products before I go out and spend $22 on a full size cleanser.

| | | I find that drying too. Neutrogena Extra Gentle, or Purpose, or Olay Sensitive Foaming are less drying IMO.

It smells great too! Since you use so little, I'm sure a full-sized bottle will last a really long time. I don't know if its necessarily "better" than some of those drugstore cleansers, but if you like it and it is clearing up your skin, than I say go for it
Personally, I would buy it for the scent alone! It makes that little part of my morning routine more enjoyable!
I will also add that I bought a bottle of the Clog-Dissolving Cleansing Milk, and it is great. Its milky, and doesn't foam at all. I put it on my dry face, let it sit for about 5 minutes, and then rinse. It does wonders to clear up my occasional breakouts, and smells even MORE divine than the foaming cleanser....

And for clearing, unclogging etc. an effective non-drying leave on BHA would be nicer for your skin.
Last but not least- expensive, high end, department store etc means high price range, not quality range.

She advised someone on here to pick up the Neutrogena Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 hydrating treatment. I couldn't find it in Canada but I picked some up when I went down to the states and it has worked amazingly for my skin.

You find great products (only the BHA and AHA stuff, the rest is YMMV like everything else) here too: Paula Begoun - The Cosmetics Cop - Paula's Choice
She has good info on acids, too- ignore her blurb about sunscreen, she has no idea what she's talking about and has been flamed for that for the past years.

I've used the 2% BHA Gel by her, but for whatever reason I ahve foudn that the Neutrogena 3-in-1 works much better for me. My mom came into town to visit me this week after not seeing me for 3 months and she could not believe how good my skin looked! She is usually the one who is 100% honest with me about how my skin is looking so when she said to me "Lindsay, I think you need to stop wearing foundation and just use a light tinted moisturizer...your skin looks too good" I almost cried .

| | | I love the 3-in-1 treatment as well. my skin hasn't calmed down from its mid-life crisis, but i think the 3-in-1 is helping keep smaller stuff under control.

Linds does that 3 in 1 mean you don't need an additional moisturizer?
I've been using proactiv for about 2 years now, and it works for me but I'm concerned about staying w/benzoyl peroxide. I'm not getting any younger! |

I'm not getting any younger! | I have very oily skin so I usually don't use a moisturizer, however I ahve found that this treatment doesn't really dry out my skin or make it flaky like other products. I will on occasion use a bit of moisturizer if i find that my skin is feeling a but dry in certain areas though.
Do you have a problem with acne or is it just blackheads and large pores??

| | | I have always had moderate acne pretty much in the wintertime, I believe it's because my skin gets a little flaky! It amounts to getting one ugly zit and as soon as that clears I get another. Then the skin around it is all flaky. I'm sick of it, and I think the proactiv has stopped working for me. |

When our skin gets dry, it tries to overcompensate by producing more oil.
I have found that the 3-in-1 is a good way to get rid of mild to moderate acne and it doesn't try my skin out.
I have also discovered a good way to get rid of zits. I recently went to Walgreens and got the Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque. At first I used the mask 3 times a week but i found it to be too drying. But now I have started to use it as an overnight spot treatment when I get a pimple. I just dab a bit on the spot before I go to bed and when i get up in the AM I was it off and it really helps reduce any swelling, redness without drying it too much.

It'll be alot cheaper than proactiv. |

| | | I don't need any extra moisturizer after the 3-in-1 except around my eyes.

| That's totally correct. Especially when drying out the skin with harsh cleansers.
