My hair is dying!!

Ok so i got my haircut 3 weeks ago, and the ends are already totally fried! My hair used to never get like this after months of straightening it everyday, but now it's totally damaged and it hasn't even been a month. how should i fix this? i can't get it trimmed bc then it would be wayy too short, so should i switch shampoos or something? please help, i don't want my hair to feel crunchy and dry!!

Aaw- sorry to hear that! Can't help, but if I would straighten my hair or even blow dry it often it would freak on me. I can't even use normal shampoo with detergents, I wash with no-poo or conditioner only.
Hope somebody can help! Mine was dry and crunchy my whole live before I switched to no silicones and no detergents.

deep condition like mad and use a heat styling hair potector, it probably won fix all of the fried hair, but it will make it look better, and then preserve the other good hair until you can get it cut!

maybe try some of those at home remedies (i've heard of some using egg white, avacado, coconut oil) where you soak your hair in it? as for leave-in-conditioning, i recommend this: buy infusion 23, add kms silker therapy to it (it's silicone based), and john frieda shine shock. usually i put this stuff in a see-through small spray bottle, and the shine shock+kms stuff adds stays at the top (about 1/2 inch worth), so when you use it, shake it up. for touch ups on your ends, put some kms silker in your hands (nickle-sized), add just a bit of water, rub your hands together so that it disperses, then run along the super-damaged tips. i wouldn't recommend using the kms silker full-strength, it's just too potent!

What products do you use? My hair was completely and totally fried at the ends (but I needed a cut) and used Loreal Nature something-- I can't remember the name, but it's at Sally's and is about $3. I hope this helps! My hair is very tempermental, but then again, I color, blow dry, and flat iron. A lot!

I've used a mayonaisse mask befor eon my hair, some people say this can be drying, but I've found it to work really well, the fats in it are very potent, I also use the amazing grace philosophy conditioner, and it works amazing, and I flat iron every day.

also, did you recently change birthcontrol, get seriods for an infection, or have a drastic change in your period, all sorts of hormonal issues affect the hair and skin.

yeah, it might be a side effect of that, changes in hormonal levels can knock your whole body off balance, case in point, the birth control I'm on makes me have to wax my upper lip.

My mom used to put olive oil in my wet hair (but very little...soo hard to get out) when I was younger and had crazy dry hair...and then she would concentrate heat (like a blow-dryer on hot hot) on the area that was dry and then wash it out, but it took a few washes to get out. Just my experience!

but the MA pill could definitely be doing that. That is strong stuff. Messes with your hormones like crazy.

I do believe in my state you have to be 18 to get one now.

Let's get ready for lots of teenage pregnancies!

My tips use to get reallly dry too.. so my hair stylist recommended applying some Biosilk Silk Therapy hair serum to my tips after I showered. Amazingly, I think this stuff actually works because my tips are waay better now and I barely get split ends. Plus, I searched around the internet for some opinions from other people and they seem to love that stuff as well.. They say it's especially good to apply on before flat-ironing your hair because it makes it all silky and shiny! This stuff is pretty pricey ($20+ for a 5.64 fl oz bottle) but it lasts because you only apply a dime-size drop everytime. It's been 8 months for me and I've only used like 15% of the bottle. Hope that helps.. good luck!

ohh I love biosilk. it's amazing...I put it on my hair wet and then let it dry then use KMS Silk Spray and straighten and my hair looks beautiful and shiny. My hair has changed a lot in the past few years, I think it's because of pueberty and because I've learned how to take care of my very dry curly hair.

Oooh- you must read "Curly Girl" by Lorraine Massey- you'll looove it! It's such a great book. My hair (dry and wavy) is just perfect since I read that book and followed instructions! There's a great website, too: www.naturallycurly.com.

I've already read it. Actually, my very curly haired hairstylist loaned it to me.

I am just teasing you here... hair is already dead.
But anyhow, when I have highlighted the hell out of my hair with bleach and chemicals, I get a good .5 to 1 inch trim and my stylist slaps this product by Nexxus called Emergency on damp hair and I leave it on all day. It dries like thick gel. Very goopy and gross but it works. Wash it out the next day and your hair is at least 50% better. Then I style with a couple drops of shining gloss for hair or a silicone-based glosser. Oh yes, and don't wash your hair every day! Especially if you style it with heat and products a lot. No matter how good the shampoo is. At most if you can, every other day. I have been known to go 3 or more days w/out shampooing it. The oils that coat the hair also make the hair not as frizzy and the oils and Emergency stuff seal in all the porus areas in your hair and bond to make it even and sealed again. Good as new!

Hair help

Alright I naturally have dark brown hair and I dye my hair blonde so I can definitely help. First use a deep conditioner as a regular conditioner, I use Kerstase (Mask) and Redken (Butter Treat or All Soft). Next deep condition your hair once a week using a bag on your head to keep in the heat and a blow dryer to heat it. Leave the product in for around 30 minutes, then rinse in cold water. Another trick I have found that works REALLY well is buying on Ebay the Loreal Powerdose (Yellow vial) treatments, the are exclusive to the salon but you can get it off of ebay so you can stay home and do it! Leave the treatment in for 15 minutes (NO LONGER) and rinse. You need to have the sprayer with the vial so make sure you get that as well....Hope this helps!!

If you don't use products to protect your hair from the heat, sooner or later you will fry it.

Tina (tigi) knows what she's talking about.

my mom has been using redken (extreme, i think) to help with her hair. If you are styling your hair a lot with heat you need to use something to protect it. There are several options, and I'm sure Tina can point you in the right direction.

Hi everyone This is my 1st post.
I used to straighten my hair a lot too....and about a month ago, I was having a bath and I put heaps of baby oil there and my hair was soaked with the baby oil as well. I freaked out then as my hair looked so flat but the next day after I rinsed and dried it, it looked all great and shiny. So the oil must be good for the hair.
