Nose Piercings.....

Anyone here have their nose pierced? I got mine pierced a month ago....last week a bump came up under it. The lady at the piercing shop said I should use sea salt and warm water on it....so far it hasn't healed. Any suggestions?

I had my belly pierced many years ago and a bump developed and then turned purple. I went to the doc and they told me my body was rejecting the metal and that I had to take it out.

Same happened to me when I pierced my belly button. This is weird though because it was fine and then this bump just popped up.

I had my nose done about 6 years ago, have now taken it out but had a minor infection a few weeks after having it done. I found just by keeping the area really clean using antiseptic cream & cleaning the actual stud that it cleared up. What metal is your stud? If its not high quality you may be having an allergic reaction maybe? Would advise poss changing the stud for a gold/ hypoallergenic one

I've had my nose and belly done. Both times i had to change the ring for a gold one to get them to heal properly.

It could be an allergy to the jewelry, also, it could be from makeup or from it getting hit. I got one of those, and it was basically a blood clot sort of thing. It happened after my son accidently hit me in the nose. I poked it with a sterile needle and it bled, so i washed it with salt solution, and then was gone by morning.

I had my nose pierced over 10 years ago. The hole is still there but I dont wear anything in it.

Anyways, I got this huge bump next to the hole a little after I pierced it. I just kept cleaning it with bactine and it went away. Is your jewelry surgical steel?

See a doc fast. You can loose part of your nose in an infection. Not a nice sight. Never go back to your piercer with an infection, always see a doc. Too dangerous.
I'm not against piercings, I had nose, eye brow and belly button. I took the nose piercing out about 8 years ago, when all teenagers started to get one, and the brow piercing too, when the same happened with that.

I think it is surgical steel? The bump is a hell of a lot smaller today at lunch than it was this morning....I think the warm water compress is working. If I don't see improvement by say Monday I will make a doctors appt and have it looked at....

Ash - I don't wear makeup...could one of you pretty ladies show my how to apply the stuff? Seriously I have no clue!!!!

u should clean it with a solution of water and dead sea salt... DO NOT USE TABLE SALT!!!! table salt can be very dangerous and cause alot of complications. also, do NOT remove the piercing if u suspect infection. i know it sounds dumb but once u remove it, it will swell up and if it closes up with all that infection in there.....then u will need to get it lanced to drain the abcess.

the best thing to do would be to go to the doctor and get a script for antibiotics if it's infected... actually, either way u should just go and have it looked at if it gets worse or if it hurts, or becomes red and feels warm

Yes I have been using sea salt not table salt. It does seem better today than yesterday. I am very clean so I don't know what happened?

When I got my nose pierced, I was told to cleanse with Epsom salts, same with my belly button (many years ago)
