My skincare confession...

I don't wash my face. Gross, right? I mean I rinse in the shower and splash water on before bed, but I feel like I should probably start washing with something that, I don't know, involves soap.

Can anyone recommend a good everyday face cleanser? I have combination skin that is pretty sensitive, but I rarely get blemishes. I use Aveeno daily moisture and powder foundation every day, but am not big into makeup.

Any and all suggestions for my poor dirty face would be appreciated!

I think my favorite cleanser of all time has to be the Fresh Soy Facial Cleanser.. but it's quite pricey.. but I do love that it doesn't leave my face dry and tight feeling (I have dry skin and most cleansers make my skin feel tight after using), and it's so gentle, perfect for those with sensitive skin and those prone to redness.

But, being that it is quite pricey, I doubt you'd want to fork out that much for a product you are just starting to venture into. How about the Cetaphil facial cleanser? It's inexpensive, it works, it's good for sensitive skin, and it's easy to find. I think it'd be a great way to venture into the world of facial cleansers

Oooh thanks! It looks like Sephora has a $15 sample size of fresh soy so I might try that. Do you use it at night or in the morning? Or both? I'm seriously a skincare idiot.

I only wash my face with water in the mornings since my face gets dried out easily. If your face is oily, you might want to use the cleanser both morning and evening. For me, if I wore makeup that day, I use a makeup wipe to take off most of the makeup and then use a cleanser at night. I got that $15 one too when I first got it, it's quite tiny but I really liked it. It's really gentle. Oh, but if you like things that foam up, you might not like this one. I personally don't like cleansers that foam up b/c those are the types that usually dry out my face, but they do cleanse more effectively since they're a little more harsh.

If you're looking at Sephora, you could also give Philosophy's Purity a try too. It's like a cult favorite. So many people love that thing. I've tried it, but it's kind of drying for me. They also make a foaming version as well for those who like the foaming kind and more oily skins.

Philosophy Purity for sure. I have dry/sensitive skin and I haven't had problems with it drying my skin out like Carol. You should def give it a try. Oh, and it last forever because you use only a tiny bit.

Cetaphil! You can even buy the generic kind at CVS and it is equally wonderful as well as gentle on your skin.

Honestly...My skin improved so much when I STOPPED using a cleanser. I only use make up remover at night and warm water in the morning. I think that in combination with using mineral make up has really made my skin happy. I have very sensitive skin that is not oily at all though.

I don't use a cleanser, but I wash my face using a Neutrogena daily scrub in the morning and at night. It's only like $5 or $6 and it's awesome, I've been using it for years. You could probably get it anywhere.

I cannot find that in the US anymore. I used to use it years ago but I could only buy it from my derm. Now even he doesn't carry it.

I would start with the cetaphil for sensitive skin if you want a good beginners face wash.

^ I've used the Precleanse from Dermalogica, before using my regular Clinique cleanser, for a few months now and I really like it!

I use a make-up removing wipe (usually Oil of Olay) at night before bed when I'm not feeling lazy. Otherwise I'll do it the next morning.

I only use face wash when I am in the shower. I hate washing my face in the sink. I feel like water gets everywhere.

Yeah I definitely splash water all over the place.

so, you just put the oil cleanser on, rub it in, and then wash it off? it doesn't seem like the oil would come off easily. my skin has been so dry lately.
