Need a new eyelash curler

Yes, I know there have been threads on this. But, a couple years old by now. So, perhaps there are new ones on the market that you've tried that you like. Or maybe it's one that has been around for awhile and you still love.

I need a new one. I have the Shiseido one and I hate it. It pinches every single time.

Now, I usually do not find drugstore brands better, but the Revlon one I've had for a bazillion years works better for me. Curls and has no pain.

But, I'm up for trying a different one. I have the mini Shu Uemera one and I like that one a lot. But, I am considering the regular size one.

Urban Decay has a new one. Looks all funky with a spring.

Recommendations please.

If Shiseido pinches your eyes, you might like the Shu Uemura's. Shu Uemura's pinches my eyes like crazy so that's why I love my Shiseido one.. although it really is not good as the ones they used to make years ago I also use a heated eyelash curler by Panasonic that I use for after I put on mascara since my lashes tend to droop with mascara on.

I heard the Tarte one was pretty good.

That UD one looks super funky! I might have to check it out sometime!

Carol...are you happy with you Panasonic? Ive been wanting to try a heated eyelash curler.

Sungy...I use the Shu Uemura and like it. I used one swipe of Dior Show Mascara and then Cover Girl Lash Blast over it....FYI I love that combination.

I had the Shu Uemura one and I liked it, but I haven't used it in a while because I don't have the replacements pads.

I got the Tarte one a few months ago and I love it! It works really well, and is more comfortable to use than the SU one. I saw an email about the UD one and I'm curious... not sure if I would spring for it since I like my Tarte one now... maybe someone else can get it and share their thoughts?

I want to try that UD one! Honestly, my favorite one is the cheap Revlon version from Target. I've tried others but it works best for me.

I have never used a lash curler. Do they make a big difference in how your lashes look?

No matter what I try, I always end up going back to my Revlon. Nothing else curls as well, and it never pinches me or pulls out my lashes.

curling your eyelashes makes a HUGE difference!

I'm not a huge fan of heated lash curlers but I do like them for use after putting on mascara since if you use a normal eyelash curler on lashes coated w/ mascara, you might end up pulling out some of your lashes. The Panasonic one is better than the Sephora and Japonesque ones I've had, so I do recommend that one if you're looking for a heated one for use after mascara.

I've always wanted to try a heated one but am fearful of it destroying my lashes and making them fall out? Is that ever an issue?

I'm really seriously looking into eyelash extensions. Anyone ever had experience with them?

Heated eyelash curlers don't get that hot! You'd burn your eye off if it was hot enough to damage your lashes. If you're looking for the traditional eyelash curler style that heats up, an alternative is to just heat up your regular eyelash curler by blasting it really quickly with your blow dryer or something.. but be careful not to get it hot. If you're looking for ones for use after mascara, this style is better:

^pic I found from doing a google search.. it's the same one that I have. It's better for after mascara use since you can't pull out your lashes accidentally with this.

If you're going to get eyelash extensions. just know that it does take quite a bit of upkeep. You have to get them redone every 3-4 weeks and as the lash extension falls out, your real lash that's stuck to it also will fall out.. so you have to be really careful.. you also can't wear anything oil based or anything waterproof - that means no waterproof mascara, no oil based makeup remover, no waterproof eyeliner.. etc. since all that will weaken the glue and your lash extensions will fall off with your real lashes.
If you don't mind all of these issues and you are willing to pay for the upkeep, they do look amazing and really does save you time in the mornings since you can skip mascara and even eyeliner.

I was going to try eyelash extensions but after seeing a lot of people's experiences with it, I decided not to.. since I'm really bad about upkeep I know I'd be too lazy to go get it touched up every few weeks and not to mention the cost associated with it. It's not cheap!

Thanku for the info about the heated curler, Carol. I guess I always thought that you used it before the mascara.

Wow Carol! I've always worried about my real lashes falling out with extensions but everyone I've talked to has never had that problem. That would not be good at all for me, I already barely have any lashes

How do you use the heated curler? Do you just comb your lashes with it?

I use the Shu Uemera and I love it... too bad I can't seem to find it

Also, I've had eyelash extensions and my when my real lashes fell out, so did the extension... and I decided to not upkeep them (too lazy hahaha my aunt did them for me though) and... it just looked weird, because it was sparse... LOL.

The elf one is a dollar at target. LOL! I like it. Worth more than a buck and I liked it a lot better than the sephora brand one if that says anything.

oh no, you can use it for before mascara too.. but I have my Shiseido curler for that.. I curl with Shiseido, put mascara on, let it dry, and then push up my lashes with the heated one

People either hate it or love it. I think if you're very diligent and careful about it, you'll love it.. if you're lazy or careless like me, it's not such a good option I have friends that absolutely love it and friends that swear that eyelash extensions ruined their real lashes

You kind of push up and back with that kind of heated curler and hold it for a few seconds. Just brushing it through won't do anything except help separate your lashes maybe

Thanks Carol

I did a lot of researching last night and decided to go with a lash conditioner used for growth. Envyderm got the best reviews and supposedly has no side effects like others. I ordered it from Amazon. I'll report back and let everyone know how it works.

I still use my Revlon one too. I'm going to pick up some replacement pads today for it.

However, I did order the Shu Uemera one also so hopefully that will work for me.

How about replacement pads for the Shu Uemera one? Why the heck do they not sell the replacement pads?

The Shiseido pads fit into it, yeah? Or what other brands?

LOL I think I remember reading they don't sell replacements is cause they gauge a pad will last you 3 months each and they "recommend" you to change your curler every 6 months, and so to them, what's the point of selling replacements when you "should" be changing your curler already. Stupid IMO, I'm not even through one pad yet and it's been almost a year ..... LOL

I have never used one either. I have no idea why, I think I just figured if I could live 26 years without curling my eyelashes why start now! . Of course, I'm also exclusively using the same revlon eyeshadow palette I got for my wedding...2 years ago. I am a makeup idiot.

Shu Uemura is my favorite! I have the slick straight Asian lashes and this keeps them curled all day. I combine it with the shu basic mascara as well. Definitely a staple.
