Injectables - Botox & Dysport

Since I turned 30 about a year and a half ago, the lines in my forehead and the frown line between my eyebrows have gotten deeper and deeper. I had been contemplating getting Dysport done - it is similar to Botox, but is supposed to act faster, lasts longer, and spreads a little better. My husband and I talked about it and he said if it was reasonably priced and it would make me feel better, to go for it.

I found a place and had it done yesterday for both areas at a total cost of around $240 for 80 total units. Dysport requires about 2.5 times more units than Botox, so it is priced a little cheaper and I ended up paying $3/unit, where as the Botox was priced at $9/unit. The doctor said that I should see a difference in 2 to 3 days and I'm eager to see what happens. The injections did not hurt at all, but I did have some very minor aching last night and a dull headache.

Has anyone else had this done and how were your results?

I've never heard of it before.

Did you take a "before" pic...I'd be pretty curious to see results.

I'm always so impressed with before/after pics, but they are always of older women who have a lot more deeper wrinkles that me. It makes me think that I don't have "enough" damage to really see a significant improvement in my skin to justify the money.

I did take a before pic on my phone, the lines don't look as deep in the picture as they do in person. I'll post before and after once I see the after in a few days.

I have no experience, but I'd love to see your results! I scrunch my face a lot when I'm anxious/thinking (so, all day at work) and I'm worried about lines between my eyebrows.

I'v had botox done and I personally liked the results. I had it in between eyebrows and on the forehead. It took in about 3 days and it was such a strange feeling. The best way that I can describe it is feeling like there was scotchtape across my forehead.

I remember staring in the mirror constantly waiting to see a difference and I couldn't and then all of a sudden waking up one morning and tah dah...........

I have no experience either, but I already have some forehead lines and I'm in my early 20s..This is something I might look into down the road, and I'd love to see your results.

My best gf has Dysport done regularly. She didn't have deep lines in her forehead (she is only 27), but it definitely took away everything she had and its completely smooth now. She gets it done when we go to the Scottsdale/Phoenix area because its pretty cheap there (way less then here). She is trying to talk me into doing it with her next time when we go in August. I'm almost 29 and it would definitely be awesome to keep it under control before they start getting worse with age. But it's something that needs to be done regularly and I don't know if I want another habit. lol

I can see a little difference in my forehead, but nothing yet on the frown line between my brows. It's been 2 days and I can't wait to see what it's going to look like.

Awww, thank you, Danielle

My forehead is pretty much frozen, still waiting on the frown line - may have to get a little more.

My forehead was pretty much frozen after about 3 days. The lines aren't totally gone, but things definitely look smoother. The biggest advantage is that since I can't scrunch my forehead anymore, the lines won't get any deeper.

I was still having some movement in between my brows so I went back for a touch up and the doctor was nice enough to do it for free. I am super happy with the results. My face doesn't feel any different, but I have noticed that I really don't get headaches anymore. I used to have migraines periodically.

For those worried about the pain of the injections - the Dysport injections really did not hurt. I had blood drawn right after my first appointment for something else, and that hurt more than the Dysport. I am definitely going to be keeping up with this.

I should also add that my husband was fine with me getting it at first, so I got it. I came home that day and didn't mention it. He ending up bringing it up and said that he didn't want me changing my face because he didn't want me to look weird. I didn't bother telling him that I had already gotten it, so he definitely hasn't noticed. It's not something (unless it's done incorrectly) that will make you look like you've had a bunch of work. I did notice it gave me a little bit of a brow lift, which was pretty cool.

I noticed that with my friend too.

Pretty sure I am going to get it done here in a couple weeks when I go to Arizona.

Just got it done this past Friday. I have had Dysport done two times now because of the rebates they are offering. Before I got Botox and the results for me are pretty much the same. I really see no difference between them except that maybe the Dysport comes on a tiny bit quicker. They last about the same amount of time for me which is about 3 months (some women can go up to six months! Bitches )

The injections really didn't hurt but were a little uncomfortable. They used a numbing cream and an ice pack beforehand. I didn't even hear a slight crunch as the needle goes in, like with Botox. I have never actually seen the needles because they know I don't like them and come at me from behind. The anticipation of the needles and not the needles themselves is the hardest part for me.

At any rate, I will not go without it on my forehead. It pulled out all of the deep wrinkles for me and it’s all nice and smooth. I can raise my eyebrows so it’s not like they are frozen. I can't get an angry look on my face though, which is a good thing. Right now Dysport is offering a rebate of $50 plus another $50 if you have had Botox in the last year and can produce a receipt. The place where I get it done just printed them out for me. This will be my second rebate with Dysport so you don't just get one. Anyone who is thinking about it should try it out.

Also, I switch out between the two and go with whichever one is cheaper or offers a better rebate at the time.
