facial gone wrong?

so there's a local cosmetology school that my mom gets cheap facials from the students. my mom has always had a good experiences and goes fairly regularly. i went and got an acne facial and now my skin is super tight [not in a firm way] and i can tell its slowly going to peel. its like a layer of my skin is going to slowly fall off. there was one mask they put on during the facial that stung [she said it was normal cause it was killing the bacteria that causes my acne].

any thoughts on what's gone wrong with my skin? when i put on my moisturizer it stings so the only thing ive been able to put on is jojoba oil so i can move my face with out it feeling like its cracking. im not sure what the school's hours are so i was hoping to get opinions here on how to fix my skin. help!

Most likely it was a type of mask that had some kind of acid or fruit enzyme in it for acne that will make you peel. Salicylic acid will often make you peel. I wouldn't stress out about it if you flake or do peel a bit but I would use a very gentle moisturize or some type of aloe vera gel/ hydrocortisone combination if you absolutely don't want to peel or it hurts. Honestly they should have told you that would happen but I wouldn't be too alarmed yet. They also shouldn't be calling this a facial. If you want to take a pic of your face and post it on here or pm me I'll take a look to make sure its ok. Does your skin have any scabs, hives, or blisters?

if its normal then i wont worry. they never said anything about it happening so that's why i was concerned. i didnt know if they did something wrong or if i was having a reaction. its hard to see if photos. right next to both my eyes [there are two little stripes] is the only parts where its a darker color and looks/feels stiff. the rest is normal just super super tight to the point where if i laugh or smile big the skin stretches too far and cracks and hurts. my normal night moisturizer is nivea in the blue tin which stung like a bitch and seemed to not loosen the skin. i literally couldnt move my face without it cracking/hurting. so i used jojoba oil which seemed to help but putting on foundation didnt work cause it wouldnt adhere to my skin if that makes sense. i got the facial yesterday and this morning my face was fine. it wasnt till i washed it before getting ready tonight that it got super tight and i used the same neutrogena face wash i always use. if this all sounds normal then i'll just wait it out.

Also, any thoughts on how to speed up the peeling process? I hate going to work with no make up

it looks a bit like a chemical burn, but it doesn't look too bad. i would do as charla suggested, plus use sun protection and stay out of the sun.

i am surprised that they put it so close to the delicate eye area though! that looks painful.

This was my first thought too. I've had chemical peels done before and that is what it looks like for a day or 2 before it peels. But I also had a special cream to put on it so it wouldn't get too tight or irritated. It should peel away in a few days. Definitely stay out of the sun cause that will only irritate it more. Yeah, don't go back there.

Use cortisone cream and a neosporin (2x per day)for a few days and it should get better. You never want to speed up the peeling process because it can make it so much worse. Also do what cat said and use a good SPF as well as only very gentle face wash and lotions and if your skin can't handle that stick with cold water, aloe or aquaphor till it goes away. It really sucks they didn't tell you what was in the mask but you could very well be very chemical sensitive and that possibly caused it.
