Dry Shampoo: Favorite Brand

I know there was a thread we were discussing this in before but I couldn't find it.

Since a lot of companies have recently started making this, has anyone found a favorite brand that works the best?

There are a few individual threads floating about talking about one product or another (Like this one about Batiste), but you probably are referring to this one Hair refresher/powder or dry shampoo- Tigi?

^It's powdery. You don't actually have to use water. So it's like getting your hair a little bit cleaner without full-on washing it. Does that make sense?

It's perfect for the day after you shampoo if you hair gets oily easy. I don't like to wash/blowdry/straighten my hair everyday since it can be really damaging (and take too much time) so I use dry shampoo the day after a shampoo. It refreshes my hair so it doesn't look oily.

I use the Oscar Blandi Brand! Its a white powder....I rub it on my hands and fingertips then thru my hair by the roots. I like this one as opposed to the spray in ones (that you can get to match your hair color) because I can get this powder to the roots easier. Ive consulted with Salon Stylists and they prefer this over the spray in ones also. Just make sure you check your face to make sure there isnt any residual powder on it!! Also, i wear a coverup over my clothes so I dont get any on my outfit!

^^P.S. If you massage it in really well into the roots, you dont see white color in your hair.

(I did try to edit up there again, to add this sentence in, but it wouldnt work for some reason)

My mom and I are becoming quite the dry shampoo junkies. I have very fine hair so it's nice to not have to wash my hair everyday now . Oscar Blandi is my favorite powder kind. love the smell . Klorane is ok, but not a fan of how it smells. Will not buy that brand again. Hmm what else...for sprays, Big & Sexy was a pass because it didn't absorb oil well at all. I love Rockaholic for the smell and find that it works well, and my mom has been using Tresemme to test out cheaper options. It's not her favorite, but it does the job and she hasn't had any complaints with it.

I use Oscar Blandi too. My hair is dark, so I have to do it lightly. The first time I applied it, it looked like I was wearing a powdered wig.

Haha me too Linda. If I'm not careful I look the same way. I currently use the Oscar Blandi shake kind. I do not recommend the spray to anyone with dark hair. The Kenra one sucks (spray) but sometimes I find where plain old baby powder works ok if you have nothing else. Also for extra greasy roots when you dont have time to wash use astrigent lightly on a cotton ball. It soaks up the oil. Blow dry the area on low then lightly sprinkle dry shampoo after. I swear it makes my hair look like i just washed and styled it.

I keep meaning to try the astringent trick. I'm going to pick some up this weekend.

I have a question--I've tried the Tresseme spray kind and while it doesn't make my black hair look powdered, it feels sticky even though I follow directions--is that normal?

I think the Tressame one is just cheap. It makes my hair feel weird too.

I've had the best luck with Batiste, but it seems to run out quick and it doesn't smell the greatest.

In a bind, I stopped at Wal-Green's and picked up PSSSST. It wasn't bad. It's a spray that's white and powdery but I was able to work it in to where it wasn't noticeable.

Now that you mention it, I remember that my mom said it made her hair feel sticky too. Bummer since the price is so great - but I guess you get what you pay for

haha Charla -- it was so funny the first time I applied it.

I have the squirt/shake bottle and if I recall correctly, it says to part the hair and squirt. Well, that's what I did and it way too much! I tried to rub it enough to distribute it and I ended up looking like my grandmother!

Now, I just squirt onto my fingers and fluff in.

The Oscar Blandi ones smells nice too. And not expensive.

I also use Oscar Blandi and can't live w/ out it!! It does last forever - a little goes a long way It totally takes away the oil and refreshes my hair as well as help give it some volume! love the fresh smell of it too

ETA - oh get the powder one - not the spray! you'll go through the spray so fast b/c you have to spray a whole lot before it will do much.

RENE FURTURER!!! It's the best one. I've tried the Oscar Blandi one- eeeeh. It's okay. I have medium brown hair. The Rene Furturer one is brownish colored, it's not noticible. I spray it in close to the root, leave it for a few minutes, then massage it in well. Sometimes I even do a little blowdry, just to work it in better.

Dry shampoo'ing is great if you only want to wash every other day. It's the ONLY way I could make it without washing every single day, as my hair gets very oily. The dry shampoo powder absorbs the oil that your scalp makes.

Sadly for me, I had to start washing again every day as I began working out daily and when you sweat, well, you gotta wash it out the old fashioned way- no way that dry shampoo can help that situation.
