sephora vs buying direct

ive noticed that everyone seems to buy from sephora rather than from the brand. if you buy from the acutal brand site/store you usually get free gift bags. so whats the benefit of buying from sephora?

^ITA. And I like the variety Sephora offers. Easier to get everything I need from one place.

sephora is amazing.

one time UPS left my package ON MY DOOR STOOP in the middle of manhattan where it was more than likely stolen rather quickly (as i never saw it nor did anyone in my building; but UPS is another can of worms ), and sephora sent me another order overnight for free, no problems no questions.

their customer service is probably the best i've ever encountered.

ITA with everything everyone else said. They have a huge selection so you can get everything you need from one store instead of going to a bunch of different make up counters and making multiple purchases. They are great about returns/exchanges. The SAs are always willing to help, give advice, samples, etc. I've only had one bad experience there, but in the end it was okay.

If you're going to start shopping there register for their frequent buyer program, Beauty Insiders. You will get points for everything you buy which can be redeemed for larger sized samples, a bday present, and other perks.

I agree that the perks and customer service is great. Last time I went in to buy some of my Philosophy face wash the SA just dumped a handful of samples into my bag

The only thing is that I M.A.C. makeup for the most part, so I usually have to order from both.

Yeah, I don't shop at Sephora very often b/c I buy everything from MAC normally, but I did want to try out a bunch of different face primers before I purchased the Prep & Prime by MAC, so I went to Sephora & asked the sales person which are the most popular & she picked out 6 different primers for me & I purchased them all. Well I decided to return them all after using all of them once b/c I didn't really like the feel or the way it looked on my face after I applied my foundation, so I returned them all a few weeks later & they didn't ask any questions & took them all back. I was amazed! I figured they would question me & asked if I used them etc... but they didn't. Does anyone know if Sephora offers discounts to Cosmetologists or Makeup Artist w/ a license? I know MAC offers a discount card to Cosmetologist or Makeup Artist w/ registered license. If they do offer some type of discount w/ a license, I may have to get branch out & get one of those discount cards from Sephora

^ No I'm pretty sure they don't do anything like the MAC pro memberships. The only people who get a discount are the employees I believe.. but I could be wrong.
