sulfur treatment for acne?

Wondering if anyone else has tried this. I've never had really bad acne or anything, but once in a while i do get a bad breakout on one area of my face. When this happens I use a sulfur treatment. I guess the consistency is like a paste that dries quickly after application. The bottle I have from Serious Skincare is almost out and as far as I can tell it's been discontinued and replaced with a sulfur mask (I don't really want to try that). Anyone have any suggestions or brands that I can try? Thanks!

I would also like to know this^^^... a lot of people on the MUA skinboard talk about sulfur, but I've never actually used it (but I want to).. here's a thread w/ some suggestions

Do you notice that sulfur really helps w/ bad breakouts? I've been wanting to try Prosacea, or the DDF Sulfur Therapeutic Mask or this De La Cruz 10% Sulfur Ointment (was reading good reviews on this; it's cheap & available at Walgreens & I think Walmart)

My friend tried it and it bleached a nice white circle onto her face. It got rid of the pimple but she cant get rid of the hypopigmentation now. I wouldnt try this IMO.

^that's weird...i mean i've used it several times and have never had that problem.

teenbeauty, for me personally it has done a good job. not the best, but it definitely gets rid of the blemish/zit quicker than not using it at all. this is why i'm looking for some better products and options

Now I'm scared to try sulfur products! Do you happen to now which product she used? Thanks

There is sulfur in proactiv's refining mask.. thats why it smells so bad.

the pigmentation for your friends skin is probably due to her being allergic to sulfur

I use the Proactiv 3 step program and have tried their sulfur treatment. I like it. Of course it smells pretty bad, but its nice. I have used it as a mask and rinsed off and I have also dotted it on a pimple and left overnight ( they say you can use it this way too). I woundlt say it helped drmatically, but it never made anything wors.e I think it helps dry out the pimples.

^would the proactiv mask be good for normal skin (not dry or oily)? I've never used their products because I'm not sure if it will dry out my skin or not.

^ I have normal skin, and the Proactiv mask has never dried mine out. I use it as an overnight spot treatment, and sometimes it seems to zap them quickly while other times it doesn't seem to help much.

i've been using ddf sulfur mask which works great for any breakouts that come up. shrinks them quite a bit overnight.
