| | | Hair Trends 2010 What do you think is 2010's hair trends?
I've always sported long hair. For me, long hairs are actually much easier to manage. When I'm not on a good hair day, I can always do a ponytail. When I want to feel like a fairy or a princess, I'd wear some waves. Short hairs need more styling for it to have that oomph factor. However, I'm secretly envious of women who can sport short hair like Michelle Williams'.
That's one of my goals this 2010. Do you think pixie haircuts will make it this 2010? |

| | I never style my hair because of trends, especially if it is something like a pixie cut, once the trends goes away it will take many years to grow it again. I try to get cuts and styles that favor my features, and I like my hair long, not matter the trends. But if you like that cut and can pull it off, go for it! and post pics

I don't follow trends either. I only like 2 styles personally, long & neck length with lots of layers & volume.
I agree though, get what you love & yes post pics

| | | I'm just waiting for the inverted bob to go out. Everyone has that haircut now. I saw an old lady, like 85 with an invert...
I mean, act as old as you feel and all that rainbow & sunshine stuff...but srsly. When it gets to the point that you see 80 yr. olds with one, it's time for a change. |

| | | Yeah, I can't really follow a lot of hair trends since I have a weird hair type and it's difficult enough to style as is... |

Good for you if you've worn a bob since the Ice Age, but it sure is a bonafide trend when a celebrity (I'm looking at you, Posh) gets a edgy haircut (i.e. changes his/her entire look) and then a bunch of other people do the same thing to try to emulate that look. That's exactly what happened with the inverted bob. The category of "bob"? Sure. Classic. Not so much the inverted bob - that's what made it a unique hairstyle and an instant trend. Obviously some people will like the style and continue to wear it for several years, but the Posh cut is as obvious of a hair trend as they come.

And you're right, it does flatter most people which is fantastic...but everyone has it. That's more my point.
I had the invert first done about 5 years ago, and whenever I go to the salon and say I want something new and different...I always get "well what about the inverted bob." Ugh...no. That's not new & different anymore. I swear, you could randomly walk into any public place in my area and your guaranteed half or even more will have that haircut.
It's overdone and I think it's time for a new trend. |

Not so much the inverted bob
| How about the 20's haircuts, the inverted bob (less desigual that Posh style) was popular in the 20's.
All the hair cuts come and go, nothing is really new, trends yes, new cuts never, even the punk or gothic styles are inspired in old tribal hairstyles... all changed but not really , sorry I love history
By the way I wear a bob because I have an old style kind of face, I love vintage things, I think I look like a vintage women
And yeah, some trends are over used, but the same was with jennifer Aniston and before Lady Diana t, Farrah Fawcett style and...

| | I think there is definitely a difference between a classic and a trend that keeps coming back.
Like leggings, I love them but I certainly wouldn't call them a classic. JMO, of course. |

| | | Just had to mention that the style here where I live is called the "chicken do" because it looks like a chicken with the spiky hair on top. Also girls do the rats nest on the back of their head then smooth it over. That alone has to be the ugliest hair style of all time.
I went in for a trim & I was so scared. Everything turned out ok but she did ask me if I wanted a rat & hairspray. Holy hell I almost ran out of there!

Wrong sorry, it is 10000000000000000000000% a classic. This is one of the classic cuts used in the basic program for VS, Paul Mitchell, and Toni and guy. Taught to hair stylists for decades. The 12 basic hair cuts this is one.

| | I definitely don't follow the trends for my hair styles either... I'd rather have it short, long hair takes too much styling and work to not just hang and look blah. I prefer the "roll out of bed, add water and hair gel, and you're good to go" kind of styles.

| | I had the inverted bob 3 years ago and then kept on getting shorter. I was shy of a pixie cut about a month ago, but longer in the front. Its soooo easy to manage and it definitely makes me look a little older. Plus, blonde hair wouldn't pop as much if I had longer hair.
I think I am going to grow it out now, though |

| | Pixie cuts are NOT cute on everyone. I've always had long hair, well except for the time I was in cosmetology school and my friend butchered it, but it only took 6 months to grow it out. I don't like that cut OP posted, the chick looks like a dude |

I also think that you have to have poker straight hair to make most short styles work.

| | I don't really follow trends either. The one time I did, I got the infamous inverted bob and it was the biggest mistake I ever did!!
However, if you like the pixie style, do it because you love it and think it would suit your features, body type, and rock it, but don't do it if it is because you think it looks nice on any given actress...it never looks the same when done on you.
I would LOVE to be able to get away with a pixie cut myself (so cute and easy!) but I'm tall and somewhat slim and that would just accentuate that even more!!
