| | | What foundation do you use? I want to start trying some different foundation - i havent really gotten into the higher priced makeup yet but from the sounds of it, its usually worth the extra $. Right now i have Bibo (like a lot of their products), but the foundation is too watery/sheer for me. The one i am used to is Mary Kay (friends sell it) but i want to get something new. There is a local dept store that sells Lancome and Clinique and a Nordstrom 30 miles away, so I think i have access to about everything. Also, this is probably a dumb question for all of you makeup experts but does applying the foundation with a brush make a big difference? Will the $9.99 Sonia Kasuck brush you buy at Target work ok or should i invest in a more expensive one? |

| | well choosing the right foundation depends on your skin, I dont use it everyday, but I use the Chanel BRILLANCE PUR Sheer Brilliance in SUNKISSED...its a wightless liquid.... brightens skin and evens out skin tone, gives a really radiant look...and I have a foundation brush, imo it applies a more even look.

| | | I don't like anything too heavy and I was using stila tinted moisturizer as a foundation for the longest time. I started using bare minierals. a few months ago. It took a while to get used to but it goes on pretty nicely without feeling too heavy. |

| | Pure Luxe, Cory or Everyday minerals.Had Glominerals, too, which was nice, but comparing the prices- nah, Pure Luxe or Cory. Aromaleigh is said to be very nice too- but they don't ship here.
I love mineral make up.

| | | I use either Stila Tinted Moustirzer (often in the summer, but I desperately need a stick bronzer) or this Dior stuff...I'll have to look later! It's heavier, but still really light.

| | | I use dermalogica tinted moisturizer and bare minerals for everyday use. On special occasions I use that thick MAC foundation that you apply with the brush. It is really bad for your skin from what I am told. |

| | None here either, I find the older I get the foundation PRONOUNCES my pores and wrinkles.
I use moisturizer(light), and sometimes....more rarely, will I use the bead bronzers(Mary Kay) with a brush....but that is usually during winter, when I am ghost-like |

| | I usually use Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizer, and the BB Moisturizing Foundations if I'm getting more dressed up. Like Hera said, I think foundation starts to accent your lines as you get older.
But I did go all out for a wedding recently, and I used a sample of Smashbox foundation primer and applied the Bobbi Foundation with a brush (Sonia KAshuk!) and later when I went to the bathroom, I was astounded by how good my skin looked! I mean, flawless, and this was after a few hours, and nothing had caked or moved and it didn't look like I was wearing a ton of makeup! |

| | | Right now I just started using Aveda foundation. I like it, it covers well, easy to put on and the color is great. I love bobbi brown foundation, especially the sticks, easy to use. I think there are a lot of good foundations out there. Make sure you look at it in the natural light before you buy. The place I bought my aveda foundation had skylight right over the chair I was sitting and natural sunlight was on my face. I walked out with the right color. Good luck! |

| | | I use MAC hypereal foundation but very lightly. You can't even tell i'm wearing anything. It just evens out your skin tone. You can go heavier for nights and such. But I'm looking into getting a tinted moisturizer for the summer. I use Mary Kay too but I find that it's best in the winter. |

| | | I use Prescriptives Unmakeup soon to be their Virtual Skin
The color perfectly matches my skin, is not heavy, and does not make me break out.
Before I apply though I use Shiseido The Makeup Pre Makeup cream.
It sets my foundation and powder even better for a longer lasting finish. |

| | I've moved away from heavier foundations now that I've got my skin more evened out. Yay!
I usually wear clinique perfectly real with MAC studio fix to set. On the days I feel my skin looks better, I use MAC full coverage (it's basically and ENORMOUS tub of their studio finish concealer) only on red spots (top of nose, around nose) and MAC studio fix to set.
A foundation brush is KEY. I have the $9 Sonia Kashuk brush...I use it for applying concealer (or the full coverage in small spots). It's really too stiff and makes streaky foundation application. I LOVE my MAC foundation brush. I find my concealer gunks it up faster so I have a separate brush for foundation and concealer.

I use it for tinted moisturizer too. It goes on even and you actually use less. |

| | | I hate foundation brushes! I had a really sweet one and it just made my makeup look all smeary, cakey and bad...I much prefer my fingers or a sponge.

| | | I would like to use bare escentuals but no color for me. Marissa told me (and I still believe her!) that they (some of the boutiques) will custom-blend but the one I went to in Northpark in Dallas the lady gave me this look like I was absolutely insane (she was soo rude) and told me no, absolutely not, but they definitely had a color for me. Shut up, stupid lady, I think I might just know what I'm talking about. Ugh...I hate salespeople like that. Apparently as I stormed out (yeah...bit of a scene, whoops, she made me REALLY upset) she was giving me these stupid looks. UGH! Do they not realize that having a know-it-all I'm-the-best you're-stupid attitude is NOT GOING TO GET THEM BUSINESS?!
wow, end of vent!

| | | I agree some SA's are rude and don't know what they are talking about. I use some Giorgio Armani make up stuff, part of it is because the 2 SA's there are wonderful. they always take the time to try colours on me, give me lots of samples...etc.
Why can't you find the colour you want? Are you in between? If you buy a kit like I did, you get 2 foundations. Maybe you can mix the 2 yourself? |

| | | I'm not inbetween, really..let me explain.
The lightest color (fair) is very pink, but is my 'skin tone' just I don't need all the pink. The second lightest color (fairly light?) is too dark, but what I need in way of color tones (much more yellow, like my skin). Mixing them acheived nothing but a too-dark still too-pink foundation, though it wasn't awful and looked so good I might have bought it had it been a kit. But the kits don't come in Fair and Fairly Light...*sigh*.

(hmm...opposite from what was said above.) i also got the colour surge lip gloss and a bronzer. so far i am happy with all of it...foundation looks and feels really good |

| | | MAC Hyper Real foundation with a makeup brush. I used to think that a makeup brush was a waste of money but it's my best friend now! You use much less and it goes on so evenly. |

| | | i think the lady who said that fingers use less foundation was high. i never use a brush or sponge but i know they use less and give a more even application (or at least the spongey thing does). recently i bought some cheap cover girl foundation for applying on the run, and it's fine, but it does not look as nice as my clinique stuff. i mostly wear my clinique in the winter. it is light and most importantly, it evens out my skin (redness, etc.) and diminishes the darkness under my eyes. under-eye concealer alone doesn't totally do the trick.
when i got married, i had laura mercier do my make up. i loved it. i didn't look all done up like john benet ramsie, but i did look fresh and pretty. i have a few of their products and love them all. they are a bit $$, however.
in general i feel like make up does so little for me. my sister looks great in make up. when i wear it, no one even notices. weird. |

I have been using the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers a few people mentioned, in whatever the lightest color is called, it's the best match I've ever had. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
