I love L'Oreal Lash Architect - I have tried multiple MAC mascaras, Clinique, and Lancome and so far the L'Oreal is the best one I have tried. Although I may try the Diorshow one after reading this thread (it will have to give me dramatically better results though because the L'Oreal is amazing for the price)

I'm with those who chose regular cheap drugstore brands. I don't find the pricey brands to be any better than a $6 tube of Maybelline.

I'm not a big eye make up person, but ever since I had my eyes lasik'd I decided to try a tube of mascara, I grabbed the first one I saw which was Maybelline's Volum Extreme Waterproof.

Can't really comment on how great it is since it's my first tube in maybe 5 years or so, but I will tell you that it doesn't friggin budge.

I wore it to work, came home and hopped on the treadmill and it was still on my lashes. I had swiped it multiple times with my Clinique rinse off eye make up remover, washed my face with Dove face wash 3 times, and still had residue left over on my lashes which finally came off as dark circles under my eyes the next morning.

If you're looking for something with staying power, this is it.
Meanwhile I'll have to shop for a stronger eye make up remover.

how is diorshow iconic like? i tried blackout almost two years ago and HATED it! i normally bought diorshow, and i loved it but it flaked pretty easily, so i tried blackout and almost immediately after buying it wished i didn't. it made my eyelashes look very long, but did not volumize AT ALL and made it look like i had about 10 eyelashes total on each eye. i do not recommend it to anyone who does not already have really full lashes, because i don't and it looked horrible on me.

I personally do not like really thick lashes. I like them more curled and long.
My HG mascara is the Maybelline Discover Lashes first coat and Great Lashes 2nd coat.
perfect and keeps my asian lashes curled, long and natural

I don't really use mascara often so I can't really give a good one out to you...but the few times I've tried Dior Show it was really awesome until it dried out 'cause I left it alone for so long.

Although I have no real suggestions for a good one, I can tell you one to avoid at all costs, even if it means at gunpoint.
TWO-FACE LASH INJECTION PINPOINT.
It clumped after one coat, flaked into your eye upon application (flakes throughout the day into your eye too), and it smells like it's toxic. Seriously. Deluxe sample that costed me 100 sephora points =(

ICONIC! heres an excerpt from my blog.. I was comparing it to Chanel Inimitable.

ICONIC
-not as black, looks natural unless I apply more layers. then the effect is the same as/if not better than inimitable
-better at lengthening AND curling
-doesn't smudge
-after abt 4 layers, nice and thick without spider legging
-separates lashes better than inimitable
-can apply many layers without clumping
-can reach inner lashes easily

con: -takes about 4 coats to achieve an effect similar to 2 coats of inimitable
-smells a bit funny

Left is Iconic, right is Inimitable.

Last Power Mascara by Clinique? I love it. It only comes off with warm water which is genius because it rains here all the time. And then when you have warm water it comes off in clumps and doesn't smear if that makes any sense.

This is the one I have and I don't think I'll ever use another mascara. My eyes water all the time and this is the only one that doesn't smear off into my eyes, make them sting, and end up making them water even more until I cry everything off.

I've come to realize there are no good mascaras, only good bases. Shisedo (sp?) the base makes any mascara awesome.

What is a mascara base? Is that like clear mascara that you put on before the real mascara?

I've found that most mascaras are about the same... what makes the difference for me is a good eyelash curler ( shu uemura curler) and a good lash comb to separate

Anna, yes it's clear. I also use the Shu curler (). Then I put the base on. It volumizes and lengthens really well.

here it is:

SHISEIDO The Makeup Mascara Base - SHISEIDO USA

I usually get it at Macy's or Nordies, Sephora sells it too.

BEST MASCARA BASE EVERRR! you seriously can't go wrong with ANY mascara if you use this. the only downside is that it's pricey - $22 so if you use another high brand mascara like I'm doing right now (lancome oscillations $35) + this = that's like $60 for your lashes . But once I'm done w/ oscillations - I'll go back to covergirl lash blast. Lash blast + shiseido mascara base = big voluminous lashes!

oh and I prefer the shiseido lash curler to the shu one. I didn't like the shu uemura one at all.

i looooove the blackout and i just got the Dior Iconic which i like even better. It's not clumpy at all and it doesn't smudge off in the late in the day when you rub your eyes...which i have the bad habit of doing

I'd love to try a base but I'm concerned that it would totally negate the purpose of wearing the Clinique formula that actually stays on my lashes.

I have used a ton of different mascaras and I always come back to the $6 Loreal Voluminous.

I also tried this new one called Eyeko which I guess has this huge following in England and it works great. The wand is different than any wand I've seen, and helps lengthen the lashes. It cost like $15 too which wasn't too bad.

IMO the fuss is that it curls instead of crimps...and the pads last much longer.
