it can take some time to find a good colorist. anyway, with darker hair, i don't really know how far you can lift color out to avoid the brassiness. i have ashy brown/dark blonde hair and even i had a hard time until i found the right girl!

oh, andi forgot to comment on the whole going dark in the winter thing... i did it for years and was actually JUST having this convo about 10 minutes ago. i can't decide whether i want to do it this winter or not. i just feel so washed out sometimes with blonde in the winter. ugh!! i don't know!!
And it is extremely difficult to find a good colorist for hair that you can't just bleach or dye with perfect results. My hair is a pain to work with and I have yet to find a colorists who actually knows what they are doing around here
