i agree that is also correct for measuring...so long it's the entire length.
everyone measures differently, and as long as it's stated in the listing exactly where the point of measuring begins...there should be no confusion.
in fact, i've had a few people ask me for the hip measurement from the middle of the zip, the base of the zip..and from one inch down...
