The twelve body shapes are really a more detailed breakdown of the five that I use.

The author of that article agrees with me in number, at least
Of course there are always variations on names and characteristics of body types, but these are always what I went by:
A - the pear. No explanation necessary. No distinction of leg length or even ass endowment here (case in point: my mom has the unfortunate distinction of wide hips and a flat ass; luckily, I got my ass from my dad)
B - no catchy name here, but characterized by a short waist and relatively big, nice boobs. Pam is the perfect example of this (grr, jealous.) Depending on the specific person, other people might lump you into the hourglass or pear category. Huge size variation here--there's Pam, and there's my HS friend who was more of a 32 at the time (she's preggo now; she won't be this body type for awhile

)
C - the apple...amazingly long arms/legs and can range in size from narrow all over (DQ

) to the more familiar otherwise slim girl with a bit of a tummy. A lot of models are thin apples.
D - the hourglass
E - the heart. Distinguishable from the apple by her broad shoulders, not-unusually-long legs and more muscular thighs/calves. Swimmer's body. Where's Rae? I'm pretty sure she's more of this type. Maybe less so after I steal some of her boobies!
^^So this is what I've always gone by; if it helps you figure out where you are and what will fit you best, great!
