| there's two things you can do with dark undereyes: 1) play it up. rocker chic (check MAC for some fun) 2) try to tone it down by a cocktail of skincare and makeup regiment.
for concealers, its almost impossible not to mention Bobbi Brown, whos popularly known for declaring "concealers as the secret to the universe". Bobbi Brown makeup is all yellow tone based and naturally sheer, meaning it looks perfectly natural. regardless of race, 95% of our pigment is yellow toned, hence makeup with a yellow tone undertone is generally ideal for 99% of the people.
for people with particularly dark undereyes, Bobbi Brown also has a "corrector" which is a makeup layer you put on before the concealer. how does it work? essentially it "corrects" your particularly dark undereye coloartion so that it becomes a "typical dark" undereye. this allows the concealer to work effortlessly, otherwise it wont be able to effectively cloak the undereye.
so what should your concealer makeup technique be? basic order:
1) moisturize eye with eye cream made for makeup application
2) wait one minute
3) apply corrector if needed
4) apply concealer
5) apply eye powder to seal the corrector
6) do your eye shadow and all the other stuff. concealer is one of the FIRST things you should put on. thats how the pros do it and thats what the reccomend people.
things to becareful about:
choose a eye cream made for makeup application, such as Bobbi Brown hydrating eye cream, because an eye cream made purely for nuturing your skin may make it very difficult to flawlessly apply concealer. for example, La Mer eye cream is AMAZING, but should be used only at night or during no makeup days, because its practically impossible to apply makeup since the creme is very textured.
choose the correct corrector. a wrong corrector can make your eye look worst giving a grey undertone. see a makeup artist at the counter or something and makesure its the right one. dont buy stuff online unless you know what you want and yuo know the source.
concealer is typically one shade lighter than your skin. same goes for the powder you use undereye unless yuo are alraedy super pale.
thats pretty much it for makeup. if you girls want to know more about the skincare part i can write more, but here's a few recommendations:
Aveda Tourmaline-charged Eye Cream - one of the most innovative technologies in the market right now. has the same technology as the stuff you get from the $2000 La Mer Essence exclusive serum.
Origins Eye Doctor - cucumber aroma, effective, great price.
Bobbi Brown Hydrating Cream - works perfectly with Bobbi Brown makeup. one of the best "for makeup" eye creams. use this one in the morning.
La Mer Eye Cream - most expensive but worth every cent. the holy grail. |
